N: What does Odeon stand for?

Manger: You can check out the information about Odeon on the wiki website to look at the history of Odeon.

N: What do you offer for things like conferencing?

M: Our bigger multi-complexes have the facilities so we all do conferencing.

N: How about Advertising for other companies?

M: Yeah there’s different options I’ll put the radio down (did they catch on to me recording the call :/) there’s obviously leaflet displays, foyer sampling, onscreen adverts, shop stands are pretty much what we have available to customers.

N: Is there any offers that you give to your customers?

M: Yes on the back of the cinema tickets its normally its a restaurant, at the minute its Pizza express 2 for 1 deals, mostly about 10 times a year its changes on the back of the cinema ticket for promotion. If we’re doing sampling and it’s the foyer, it might be a new sweet range, it might be a new packet of crisp that just get handed out and people eat, and than any Odeon specific ones are normally on the ticket or retail based.

N: What do you offer other brands in your cinema?

M: If its linked to a film then obviously it might have sponsorship or sub-brand, like pampers sponsored on image for baby screening (I couldn’t figure out what she was saying)…They can then obviously link up with particular films so for example James Bond links up with omega watches, Aston Martin different things like that anything specific to that film detail. Different film companies have different kind of brands that they work with, we have to kinda honour those we can’t link a film with a children’s brand.

N: What do you offer for your employers as part of the managing team:

M: All our staff that we have taken on they have film cards, they get retail discounts, EAP is kind of a advise helpline with is completely confidential and free like lawyers, psychologists pretty much everything you want from that line. They have a fun committee which organises like company days out, we do football tournaments, everyone’s involved, we have employee funds where in the advert the application can be sent in they can win the fund money.

Perhaps we could suggest that as a way of advertising it, Odeon could get a couple of film stars and have them recreate each other’s movie posters. But yeah, people can then enter the code they’ve been given and be taken to their poster or.. leave it blank and be taken to a page explaining what it all is:

Page itself – based on their iMax page, has either a static or rotating quote at the top. The main part of the page displays your poster, a modified version of the description with your name in-place of whoever you’ve replaced. That’d could be gathered when sending the text, or input at some point online. Along the bottom there’s a selection of different films you can pick from to use, and there’s also a ‘send to friend’ link. That’d send both the image and a copy of the text, which would of course be advertising the film to whomever received the email. Nothing too complicated, partly because I remember people saying we’d keep that aspect of it simple (at least in terms of the mock-up) and partly because there wasn’t a huge amount of space to work with. Two versions of it, too:

Ive kinda attacked this from a Honey I Shrunk The Kids angle. Whereby the camera isnt capturing just the face, but the entire body *may have missed the point of FACE recognition but I after all this is a theoretical brief*. Yeah so my poster below acts as a kind of “you are in the movies” type thing. I feel this still targets our ‘proposed’ children/young adult target audience by making the advert personal to them.

This idea could work well with in a ‘queing’ scenario, with customers filling past the advert as they get closer to the box office, or where ever. I think its only a matter of time before virtual reality becomes more than just a concept, we could argue that this still footage is a bridge towards that.
